Aims This palliative care training course is aimed at staff who are working with service users who are close to the end of their lives. The course will look at dignified death and teach the appropriate physical skills and practices. The course will teach carers about the deterioration of human bodily functions and how to prepare and respond to the increased levels of care needed. End of Life/ Palliative Care Course Summary: • Explain what is meant by the term end of life care • Discuss their role in supporting people in end of life stages • Explain what advance care planning and advance directives are • Discuss what makes death a good or bad experience • Discuss what last offices is • Identify 3 other professionals they can involve in end of life care • Discuss people’s attitudes and fears towards death and dying
