Scaffolders Safe Slinging and Lifting

The Scaffolders Safe Slinging course is designed to provide you with the knowledge, understanding and practical skills to safely lift scaffold materials on an operational site.

The course is designed for scaffolders who intend to conduct safe practical lifting operations and managers who need to plan lifting operations using the SpanSet Safe Lifting Kit and SpanSet ScaffGrip products.

On successful completion of training, you will receive a certificate valid for 3 years.

PRE-COURSE ENTRY REQUIREMENTS: 
  • Delegates must be 18 years and over.

  • All delegates must be able to certify they are physically fit and have no medical conditions that might prevent them carrying out lifting techniques.  (A list of conditions that could affect practical training is available upon request.  If in doubt, call our team on 01782 438813 for advice prior to booking).

  • You Can Do It .Training or our training partners reserve the right to exclude unsuitable delegates from training courses.

COURSE SYLLABUS
Theory

Knowledge, understanding of:

  • Legislation relevant to conducting lifting operations (Health & Safety at Work Act, LOLER, PUWER & L1103)

  • Definition of key lifting terminology

  • Lifting plans

  • Load calculation and load characteristics

  • Load estimation

  • Safe lifting bag

  • Sling types and their attributes - ScaffGrip Board/Tube

  • Manual lifting appliance – Safe Lifting Kit

  • Pre use checks of lifting gear (accessories & appliance)

  • Planning the lift 9-point plan

Practical
  •  Risk assessment overview

  •  Pre-use check of Scaffolders Safe Lifting Kit

  • Anchor point selection & rigging of scaffolders Safe Lifting Kit

  • Safe slinging of scaffold tubes & boards - performing a lift & lower

​

Assessment

Delegates will be assessed holistically throughout the course. Delegates are required to complete a written Summative Assessment at the end of the course and achieve the pass criteria.

 
Certification

On successful completion candidates will receive a certificate valid for three years.
