Construction Dust Campaign

Exposure to dust can risk your long-term health. Not today, but years down the line.

Construction workers die every week from lung diseases caused by exposure to dust. Many more will suffer from severe chronic long-term lung conditions.

Dust particles can be 100 times smaller than a grain of sand, and once in your lungs the dust will start causing damage. Exposure can lead to severe breathing difficulties and lung diseases that can ruin lives and cause an early death.

To protect workers, throughout 2023/24 HSE is inspecting a variety of woodworking businesses. Inspectors will check that woodwork is planned correctly to minimise risk; and that adequate control measures are in place to protect workers’ health. You can read more about it here: https://workright.campaign.gov.uk/campaigns/wood-dust/

Don't risk the health and safety of yourself, or your employees. Ensure you have effective controls in place to keep workers safe and protect their respiratory health.
